cannotget past initial username setup

Cleaned everything out from old install. Installed the latest version of the standalone. File permissions are all open so that not an issue. However, whenever I enter a username and password to set initially it comes back to the same screen after submit and no changes are in the generator file inside the data directory. Its an endless loop.

any help would be appreciated

make sure that generator/data/ subfolder has 777 permissions and data/generator.conf file (if exists) has 666 permissions.

Still no go.

I even removed everything and did a fresh install in a different subdirectory.
