How to upload sitemap

Hi. I have a web site which I design in Dreamweaver, and upload to it using Ipswitch (FTP).  I want to put on a site map, and have just down loaded an XML file off this site which looks good. But I am a new dummy, and I don't know how to upload it onto my site. I have the XML file sitting on my desktop ..... how do I get it into my dreamweaver site ?    Do I create a new file or what /   and if so where do I put it ?    If you can help - please assume you're talking to an idiot.

you should upload sitemap.xml file in the same way as any other file, using FTP software.
