Error opening socket to xxx.com
« on: May 10, 2006, 08:46:30 PM »
There have been several posts regarding "Error opening socket to xxx.com" on this forum, but the solution was not shown.   We are getting this error and have checked permissions on files, folders and port 80.  PHP is allowed.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello,

in case if you see this message, your server configuration doesn't allow the script to connect to your host via http protocol (port 80).
Please contact your hosting support with question on whether there is a limitation like this. It is possible that port 80 is open, but for external hosts only (i.e., you can crawl external sites with Sitemap Generator, but cannot connect to the same host where the script resides).

Contacted hosting support regarding port 80 external and internal php scripts.  They confirmed that generator works from a command line, but they were unable to get it to run via the web.  Any suggestions?
