using one script to make multiple sitemaps

so, i have vhosts.
sub.domain.com
^ about 4 of those

Would i have to make 5 separate installs of the sitemap generator, or can i have one that will do individual sitemaps for each of them?

Yes, xml sitemap protocol doesn't allow to include URLs from different subdomains, so you will need separate sitemaps.
