Hi

I just purchased the Standalone Sitemap Generator and installed it on my server. Unfortunately I get the following error message when trying to crawl my website:

An error occured: there was an error while retrieving the URL specified:
[ External links are visible to forum administrators only ]
Error message: Error opening socket to [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ]

I changed all necessary permissions according to the "5 Minute installation Guide" so I hope someone can give me some help on this.

Thanks, thegardener

Hi

I tried to use the server's IP-Address. Unfortunately with the same result  :(

Any other idea? Thanks a lot.

Please PM me your generator URL/login to check that.

Other options:
- set IP to 127.0.0.1
- set IP to _SERVER[SERVER_ADDR] as reported in phpinfo() page.

I'm having the same problem, plus the two options posted by admin produce the same error.  Has there been any progress on this yet?

Thanks

Hi,
I was also having this "error opening socket" message today. (Before, everything worked fine!) Actually I don´t even get a html-page with the error; I rather have to read the error message it from the URL. Entering the IP-address of my website (as advised above) did not help either.

Oh, by the way: Don´t know if this is only a coincidence or if this might have to do with the problem: Today all of a sudden I also had some memory_limit problems with my frontend (php, Joomla). Never happened before ...

Any ideas? Thank you very much in advance!

Hello,

probably it means that your host has changed something in server configuration.

Please check if your site is crawlable using search crawler simulator: https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/se-bot-simulator.html

Hi,
I checked my site with the simulator, and yes, it seems to be crawlable (the simulator listed links found ...).

I am at the same stage.

The ip address cannot be used as this is a virtual server known only by it's url?
It is crawlable by the test crawler.

Hi, my reported problem seems to be solved - but actually I have done nothing, except waiting. So probably it was really a problem with my provider. Thanks anyway, I hope the problem will not show again. :D
