Mac install (file creation inquiry)

I just purchased the Unlimited Sitemap Generator. Didn't purchase installation, because the instructions seemed so simple. So I thought. I use a mac computer, and am having a problem with the point of instructions that say to "create two blank xml files".
Does anyone know how you create a file on a mac? I know how to create a folder...but can't find anyway to create an empty file. My googling isn't bringing up much help either.

you can open TextEdit (or other your favorite text editor software), it usually starts with blank document, then select File/"Save As" and save it as "sitemap.xml" file.
