Best use of space

When I use the sitemap generator, and it only has a maximum 500 pages... will it use inactve products in the sitemap generation, which would waste space that could be used for additional active items? I am discontinuing some products, but I don't want to delete them right now because I still have a few items in stock, but if I have a space limitation in my sitemap generator, I'd rather fill the space with active items instead of inactive. Does my question make sense?

Hello,

sitemap generator walks through all links on your site, similar to normal visitors and adds those URLs in sitemap. So, as long as old links can still be found on your site, they will be included too. Note that a standalone sitemap generator script ( https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/standalone-google-sitemap-generator.html ) has no limitations on maximum number of URLs.
