Errors on cron job and xml sitemap being indexed
« on: July 23, 2009, 03:17:05 PM »
Hello,

2 questions....

1) When I check Bing to see if I've been indexed yet, I see only 1 indexed page - my actual xml sitemap (which obviously isn't designed for human readers to see). See it from bing.com and type in: 'site:www.he al th y le gdep ot.com' (without the spaces). Now, the result is my BLOG's xml sitemap (NOT the one generated by xml-sitemaps.com - I use a Wordpress plugin that automatically updates and pings engines whenever I add a new post to the blog.... but I'm asking this question because I expect that the same thing might happen with my xml-sitemaps.com generated sitemap). So... should I put my sitemap.xml file into my robots.txt as 'disallow'? Or will that cause the sitemap to be completely ignored and kill the entire reason for having an xml sitemap in the first place?

2) I've set up a cron to run weekly on my site. After the first scheduled cron run, this is the text of an email I received from godaddy's server. What is it saying, and how do I fix the error?

Hello,

1. it wouldn't hurt to have sitemap.xml indexed, eventualy Bing will index your main pages as well and xml sitemap will be lower in the list.

2. this is normal output for the cron task, there are no error messages included as I see.

Hi Oleg,

I'm confused... this isn't an error? This is the first line from the email I received....

(See full text of the email in 1st post of this thread)

After my previous post, I logged in to mysite.com/generator/index.php and in the looked at the 'crawling' tab..... it indicates that the last crawl (the cron scheduled run) was "interrupted" after only about 400 pages. I don't understand... whether I run the xml-sitemaps manually (clicking 'run' from the crawl tab) or whether it's a cron scheduled job - it always gets "interrupted" and I end up having to manually 'resume'.  My version of standalone xml is v.3.0

Thanks
