Crawler returns to config page immediately

When I try and run the crawler manually a white page with some text is displayed and then immediately overlaid with the config page... so fast I can't read the text.

I have configured the site and set sitemap.xml and ror.xml in root to 666 permissions. data folder has 777 permissions (shared hosting windows server so had to get tech support admin to do it for me).

Any suggestions on how to diagnose this?

Yes, replied to you yesterday:

there was an extra slash character in domain name, I've corrected that.

thanks Oleg, it's working fine now. I thought I was using the URL/path defaults and was a bit confused by the mixed forward/backward slashes.

I'm having this same problem, in my case the config page has a URL of:
[ External links are visible to forum administrators only ]

So the errmsg, when url-decoded, looks like:
There was an error while retrieving the URL specified: [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ]
Error message: Error opening socket to [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ]
