Downloaded sitemap but can't activate it

Hi Guys,

I have downloaded the xml sitemap from the [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ] site and I downloaded an uncompressed version.

I then clicked "Select All" Then "Copy"

Then opened Notepad and clicked "Paste" and saved it as sitemap.xm.

I then opened Filezilla and put it in the root directory of my site. 

Now when I go to [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ] this is the message that I get:

XML Parsing Error: XML or text declaration not at start of entity
Location: [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ]
Line Number 1, Column 3:  <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

Does anyone know what I did wrong and how I can fix it?

Hello,

you should not copy/paste the content of xml sitemap, just right click on sitemap.xml link on details page, select "Save as" to save it on your computer and then upload that sitemap.xml file to your site.
