an error opening socket

I actually have two questions.

1. I receive an error message of "Error opening socket to" (specific website name).

I have read through the forum recommendations of adding your server IP to the advanced settings. I did this and still receive the error above.

2. Under "save sitemap to:" the input box reads the path that I have specified but the text underneath for current path reads differently.

I went into config.inc.php to check if the new path was being saved in the file and it is correct in the file. So I know it is writing back to the file.
