No lastmod value on .php pages.

I'm trying to make a sitemap for a site using the "detect server response" option for lastmod.  It works great for static HTML pages, but I'm not getting any response for .php pages.

Is this an issue with the sitemap generator or could this be something with my server?

I searched the forums a bit but couldn't find anything on it.

since PHP pages are generated on-the-fly, they do not send "last-modified" http header with their response.
