I've used XML-sitemaps successfully in the past. But now I have big problems. Here's the history:
I wanted to update my site map so I logged on to Google webmaster tools and deleted my old site map.
Then I created a new site map with [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ]. I could view the code when I hit the link so I uploaded the sitemap to my web host server then went back to Google webmaster and uploaded new sitemap, but Google says, Error! I got a 404 Error, page not found. How odd. How can that be?

Any suggestions?

writermom

Yes, I have uploaded it to my directory. Still get the 404 Error.

writermom

No, I don't have a .htaccess file in my domain root folder.

I just tried to re-generate a new site map. After it was complete, I clicked on the link to check it authenticity and still got the 404 Error.

writermom

Yes, I uploaded it to my root folder on my web server.

Can you give me a step-by-step on how to do that?
